    300 kDa

    Triple helix. Roughly a thousand amino acids per chain.
    Too large to be absorbed intact.

  2. STATE 02 / PARTIAL HYDROLYSIS

    20 kDa

    Enzymes cut at specific bonds. The structure loses its helix.
    Still too large to cross the intestinal wall efficiently.

  3. STATE 03 / DALTON 02-05

    2 kDa

    Fifteen to twenty amino acids. Around two nanometres.
    Small enough to be absorbed as a peptide, not broken down first.
